  1. I’ve been using a plastic syringe for fine lines and stippling (like the detail of the painting at the top of this blog). Experimenting with techniques I can use to translate some of what I do with small watercolor and pen and ink pieces. It would take more time than I have to live to do even a moderate size canvas with a crow quill nib!
    The syringes work well. Seurat would have loved them!


  2. As for texture–I love working on weathered plywood, the rough side of Masonite, chipboard. How good quality water color paper, with its textured surface, makes every brush stroke come alive.
